My puppy still has worms the vet started him on Heartguard Plus he’s only taken two doses?

Posted under heartguard

How long will it take for the worms to go away he has only had two doses of heartguard Plus the vet said to give it to him 1 dose once every two weeks. What should I be noticing?

Have you considered asking your vet?

The vet certainly would be the best one to answer you questions

What can we give our dog for her teeth strength?

Posted under canine supplements

I have a chocolate lab mix from a shelter. She’s UTD on all vaccines and receives a monthly preventative for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites. She’s in overall good health and was last seen by the vet in July.

When we got her from the shelter, one of her bottom canines was broken in 1/2. The vet said it would fall out on its own. It never fell out and instead, it rotted out the 3 teeth around it. She had to have oral surgery at 11 months old to remove 4 bottom teeth.

We have since put her on Canidae All Life Stages (a 5-star dry dog food). We took away all of her hard toys per the vet’s request. She now has stuffed animals, tennis balls, a Kong, and some tug rope toys).

Should we supplement vitamins into her diet?
Daa, yeah, she chewed on gravels at the humane society foster home.

Rather than add supplements to a good diet, start brushing her teeth and get regular dental cleanings.

Posted under heartguard

My puppy still has worms he’s been to the vet 2x and has gotten two shots and is on Heartguard Plus. He’s taken the Heartguard 2x please let me know it seems to me that the worms ahould be going away? Thanks, Pam

Are you talking about heartworm or the INTESTINAL worms ?? U mentioned heartguard and im confused by your question.

Hearguard is ONLY to prevent HEARTWORM not intestinal worms.

how much calcium for a puppy?

Posted under canine supplements

We have a female, 5-6 month old labrador. We feed her a RAW diet.

Can any one please tell me the daily allowence for calcium in labradors?

I’ve found this web site but it is far from specific : http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-angels.com/supplements.html

I understand how to get calcium into her diet, we just want to know the recommended daily allowence.

Thanks :D
To the first perosn who answered. I feed RAW only. NEVER cooked!!!

The ratio is offal – 5-10%
Bone – 10%
meat – 80 %

I just want to know how many mg of calcium should a femal, 6 month old labrador be getting

if you are feeding raw bones, you will not have to add calcium
if you are not feeding raw bones you will need to add calcium
I feed a cooked diet and use eggshell calcium, i sent you
the site where i order it
I also included some information and sites from a company called b-naturals

The following is a excerpt from a b-naturals article. I included the site

To feed puppies on a raw or home cooked diet, I would recommend three guidelines
1) Home made diets: If your home made diet does not include raw meaty bones, supplement calcium at about 900 mg of calcium carbonate per pound of food served. If your home made diet does include raw meaty bones, you do not have to supplement with calcium carbonate as there is sufficient calcium in the bones. You do however, want to make sure that 40% to 50% of the home made diet is raw meaty bones. If the diet includes more than 50% raw meaty bones, it can lead to excessive amounts of calcium which can be harmful.
