Dynamite Specialty Products is announcing their new logo and packaging after a year-long process of re-branding. The main purpose of the up-grade is to be more environmentally-friendly. Dynamite has been “green” in other aspects of their animal feed and fertilizer manufacturing and formulations but for years the products have been packaged in plastic because the technology was not available to do otherwise. They are thrilled to be starting the process of changing to greener packaging and this video helps describe the process.
The new packaging will begin rolling out mid-April, 2011 and will be complete by late-summer, 2011.

Video shows how to use over the counter veterinary drugs Ivermectin and Pyrantel Pamoate to mix your own monthly heartworm and parasite preventative medications and potentially save hundreds of dollars per year. Please be sure to consult your own veterinarian before trying this at home.
Note that there have been reports of heartworm infection in dogs that were prescribed Ivermectin and other heartworm preventatives, including brands Interceptor, Sentinel, and heartguard. There is a lot of detail to go into, I’ll refer you to the following for more in-depth information:

heartguard
Lots of brand out there. Which do you use on your dogs and why? Results?
I use frontline plus and heartguard plus. I use them because that’s what my vet recommended and I have never had any problems with them. No fleas (though I have found a tick on him the day after a big hike trip) and heartworm test have always been negatives.
In some areas, fleas and ticks have become resistant to some of the products. So it is always best to use what the animal hospital recommends. They are in the best position to know what works in your location.
My dogs had fleas only once, when a single application of plain Frontline took care of the problem.
They each wear a Preventic collar except in winter, so they need 3 every year.
